How We Do It

1.

Most Nordic Homes designs, with the exception of the Contemporary Range, are constructed on concrete slabs with each slab up to 4.8m wide and 15m long (to a maximum of around 63m2). The Contemporary Range of homes and units are generally built on a steel chassis, where each module can be significantly increased, up to 100m2.

2.

Frames for the time being (soon we will be offering “Liquid Walls” concrete panels for internal and external walls) are in a choice of steel or termite treated timber. All cyclonic rated homes are constructed with steel frames.

3.

After external cladding and roof cover houses are pre wired and plumbed ahead of being gyprock lined.

4.

Houses are then completed in our yard much the same way as any site built home before the modules are separated and loaded by hydraulic jacks for transport. Generally we keep module widths to less than 4.5m for the North West (so a single pilot will suffice) and less than 5.5m in other cases. An owner inspection takes place prior to transport with any deficiencies repaired prior to transport.

5.

Access permitting, houses are unloaded using hydraulic jacks although for the Contemporary Range the modules are engineered to be lifted and installed by crane if access is limited.

6.

If necessary, within a week of delivery we send a follow up crew to repair any transport damage and the house is ready for handover.

7.

If we supply decks and verandahs we generally commence installation within a couple of weeks of the house being installed. Alternatively, we often supply materials only (generally at our invoiced cost) for owner DIY installation or installation by a local contractor, in which case the materials are delivered to site the week following delivery and installation of the house.
